Painter and graphic artist, Josef Istler (1919–2000), was a member of the Ra group and collaborated with the international grouping Cobra and did much to establish art informel on the Czech art scene. The exhibition organized for Museum Kampa presents the author’s invention in a wide range of styles – from works of an art informel nature with roots in surrealist expression to abstract linear compositions and figurative work. The paintings, drawings and prints come from state-owned and private collections, mainly in the Czech Republic.
